Avec La tete dans le cul, or have the head up the ass. That's exactly what is once again at hand regarding the treatment of our comrades in arms. Below is the story of the butt fucking this marine got for doing his job. Hey war isn't pretty and the sooner the chicken hawks that make the commitment to place us in harms way realize it the better. You don't win by painting school houses and wiping noses. The enemy in all forms is the enemy pure and simple. Rules of engagement my ass! In war the only acceptable rule of engagement is to seek out and destroy the enemy without prejudice. Anything else sets the stage for tragedy leading to unnecessary casualties to most importantly our troops and secondly innocence bystanders. If the so called enemy is not vile enough for that rule of engagement then he is probably not worthy of being an enemy. Instead of war then perhaps the politicians ought to do what they are paid to do - diplomacy and negotiation. …Continue

Could not put it any better than this. My thoughts on the matter exactly. Politicians and the bottom feeding media need a reality check and a time out. Can't wait to see what this new breed Marine General does. Will he take the high road or resort to career preservation politics? Wonder what Gen Holland "Howlin Mad" Smith would do? http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/allen-west-marines-incident-shut-your-mouth-war-hell_616699.htmlContinue

A good friend of mine, SKCS (Retired) Bill Tinsley, has passwed away on 15 Jan 2012 after having a heart attack. Bill was from the Vietnam era and was a contractor with 30th Naval Contsruction Regiment.Bill started coming to Phuket 3 years ago and we met then, a great man. After his first trip, it became a vacation for him twice a year. He was my house guest for 2 days just this last Nov. He lived life to the fullest and knew how to have fun. I was curious about English language popular music recorded by Chinese groups in Hong Kong, so I just got this info from the Internet. Maybe you've heard the "Reynettes" before, but I hadn't until now. They were one of several groups/recording artists during the heyday of Hong Kong English Pop, which was in the '50s through the mid '70's. Imported pop music in English from the West by such groups/artists as The Beatles, Elvis Presley and Johnny Mathis enjoyed so much popularity in the city, that Hong Kong artists started to produce their own pop music in English in the 1960s. Judi Jim was another singer from Hong Kong who recorded a lot in English.…Continue

I was in the auto parts store today and overheard two doomsday idiots talking about how the Iranians were going shut down the straights of Hormuz, that gas prices would soar out of site because 40% of the worlds oil transits the area and that we would be going to war with Iran. I listened long enough and could no longer contain my rage at these two misinformed civilian yahoos. So I unloaded informing them that the Iranians didn't possess the military might to close the straights in the first place and to stop worrying about their precious oil prices and thank their stars that the United States Navy is a force to be reckoned with; that one carrier battle group renders more than enough fire power to deal a death blow to whatever lame attempt Iran could muster to stop shipping in that area.Their reaction? Like two doe in the headlights, absolutely no idea what the fuck I was talking about. Typical!Mac-OUTContinue

Went with the wife to a Japanese food store today. While she was shopping for noodles, seaweed, crawly things from the ocean, and various sauces, I managed to acquire a nice selection of Asahi, Suntory, and Sapporo beers.
My doctor told me that I may be lactose intolerant. I checked the labels and none of the above beers contains lactose.

Conjoined twins walk into a pub in Sydney and park themselves on a bar stool. One of them says to the bartender, "don't mind us,we're joined at the hip, I'm John and he's Jim. Two VB, thanks"
The bartender, feeling slightly awkward, tries to make polite conversation while pouring the beers "been on holiday yet, lads?"
"Off to the states next month" says John, "we go to the states every year, hire a car, and drive for miles, don't we Jim? Jim agrees
"Ah the states" says the bartender, "wonderful country, the climate, the beer, the culture"
"Nah we don't like that American crap" says John, "Pies, peas, and VB, that's us, eh Jim? And we can't stand the Yanks, they're so arrogant and crude, not civil and polite like us Aussies"
"so why keep going to the States" asked the bartender?
"It's the only chance Jim gets to drive"

FY 2013 DoD Budget Details
In anticipation of the Administration's FY 2023 budget request, which goes to Capitol Hill on February 13th, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Army General Martin E. Dempsey, chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, held a press conference yesterday to discuss achieving $480 billion in Defense budget cuts over the next 10 years, beginning in 2013. Panetta indicated that the cost of military personnel has grown at an unsustainable rate and the Department of Defense (DoD) must get healthcare costs under control. The proposed solutions include:

We had just secured from general quarters when it happened! “Class C fire in Main Control, away the duty electrician, away the flying squad.” came the announcement over the 1MC. As with most class C fires once power was secured the fire was declared out, the flying squad secured and within a very short time normalcy was restored. Well almost! Seems the cause of this class C fire was an electric motor shorting out and burning up; the electric motor that drove the brine pump on No.1 set of evaporators. Our ability to produce feed water and fresh water from seawater had just been cut by 50%. We were going on Water Hours.
Now if anyone has not ever had the pleasure of water hours - it’s not pleasant. A ship has these little miracle workers called evaporators; through the magic of vaporization and condensation under low pressures, seawater is converted to feed water for the ships boilers and fresh water for the crew. Few ships had the luxury of an extra set of evaporators so the…

YOKOSUKA NAVAL BASE, Japan – A former ship captain fired from her post for “cruelty and maltreatment” of her subordinates will be allowed to retire from the Navy under honorable circumstances, officials said Saturday.
Capt. Holly Graf, who was removed from command of the Yokosuka-based guided-missile cruiser USS Cowpens in January 2010, will also retain her O-6 rank upon retirement, according to a statement from Juan Garcia, secretary of the Navy for manpower and reserve affairs.
